Why is this drug prescribed?
This combination of drugs is used to relieve moderate to severe pain.

When should it be used?
This medication is usually taken every six hours. Follow the instructions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your pharmacist to explain any part that you do not understand. This drug begins to take effect within 15 minutes and goes on working for three to six hours.

How should it be used?
This medication comes in tablets, capsules and oral liquid. Your prescription label tells you how much to take at each dose. This prescription is not refillable. Contact us for a new prescription.

What special instructions should I follow while using this drug?
This medication can be habit-forming. Do not take it more often or for a longer time than instructed, and do not take more than the amount prescribed at each dose. This drug combination may decrease mental alertness. Do not drive a car or operate dangerous machinery until you know how it affects you.

What side effects can this drug cause? What can I do about them?
If you experience nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, or dizziness, lie down for a while. Take the drug with food or milk if you experience nausea or vomiting. If these effects continue, contact us. If you experience constipation or difficulty urinating, contact us. You may also experience difficulty breathing, especially elderly patients, patients with lung problems, and patients who are taking certain medications. Alert family members or some other person who is likely to be nearby to call us immediately if you have difficulty breathing or if you faint.

What other precautions should I follow while using this drug?
If you are allergic to codeine or acetaminophen, tell us before you take this medication. Do not take analgesics, sleeping pills, tranquilizers, antidepressants, sedatives or any other medications while taking this drug unless you are specifically told by us you that you may. Alcoholic beverages can add to the drowsiness and stomach irritation caused by this drug. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should inform us before taking this medication. Do not allow anyone else to take this medication; it is against the law to do so.
