All of these people at Houston Metro Urology are the greatest. When I got my diagnosis of prostate cancer I was very concerned as I realized that it could be the end. I went to the H.M.U. radiation center and realized that it could be cured by radiation. After hormone shot as the first step, I had to wait a number of weeks to start radiation treatments. After 28 daily sessions of radiation treatment, it seems to be cured as my PSA tests are 0.0041 which is great. Let me close by saying that the young ladies that administered the daily radiation are absolutely the best. They were all friendly and supportive. Dr. Van is an outstanding physician in all ways: sincerely cares about his patients that you can see and feel when interacting with him; tells you the truth, including explaining common misconceptions about prostate cancer treatment options; holding nothing back from and exploring all options with the patient; designs a treatment plan that both he and the patient are confident is the best approach; and is the best communicator of any physician I have ever known. I thank Dr. Van for the success of the radiation treatment plan he designed for my extremely aggressive prostate cancer, (which had spread to a lymph node) diagnosed in December 2021. After 6 weeks of radiation in 2022, my PSA has been less than 0.01 for 6 months and my last two annual PSMA PET Scans showed no presence of prostate cancer cells. Dr. Van is a great physician, advisor, counselor and friend, which is quite comforting to me as I go forward in life. Approximately 3 years ago I was diagnosed with a very aggressive, advanced, prostate cancer which had penetrated the bladder wall. After interviewing several doctors and treatment plans and facilities (including a national-recognized research hospital), I decided on Dr. Van. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and after several visits, a friend. I have been cancer free for 3 years plus now. One cannot find a more compassionate and knowledgeable doctor. If you are reading this, I'm truly sorry you have cancer but you owe it to yourself and loved ones to at least meet with Dr. Van and discuss your issues.
